B.C. produces over 90% of the highbush blueberries in Canada and produces over 150 million pounds of blueberries annually.


Blueberries are considered a super fruit and have many health benefits. Consumption of blueberries may lower blood pressure, improve insulin response, and brain health. They’re high in fibre and an excellent source of antioxidants.

Most Common Varieties:

  • There are two types of blueberries grown in Canada: highbush and lowbush.

Did you know?

  • There are over 600 blueberry growers in B.C., primarily in the Fraser Valley.  
  • Blueberry crops cover 26,000 acres in B.C.  
  • Over half of B.C.’s blueberry crop is frozen but has all the same health benefits as fresh.
