Profile:

Pears are grown in the Okanagan, Similkameen region, and Kootenay Valley. Pears grow best on heavy soils, which limits the areas that they can be grown.

About:

Pears are one of the very few fruits that do not ripen on the tree but need time for the sugars to develop off the branch. When ripe, a pear is sweet, buttery, tender, and filled with juice.

Most Common Varieties:

  • Anjou
  • Bartlett
  • Bosc
