‘Tis the season for all things merry and bright. Let’s create a Holiday cheese and charcuterie board that shines! Here are the delicious and unique B.C. products I recommend for a standout festive spread.

Holiday cheeseboard Santa Brie

For the Santa Brie, try Golden Ears Cheesecrafters Brie which is made in Maple Ridge and one of the creamiest and most delicious Bries I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. For the Santa hat, I recommend a mix of Calabrese and Hungarian salami to add dimension in both flavour and colour. Port Alberni’s Hertel Meats Calabrese is available at many grocery stores across the province. A little harder to find but worth it; the Hot Hungarian from Crooked Horn Ranch in Creston is delicious.

More B.C. cheese

From here, have some fun chopping your cheeses in dynamic ways! From Mt. Lehman Cheese Co. in Abbotsford, I serve Basil Berry Dutchess cubed, Chili & Onion Dutchess halved and Grana Nana whole. To preserve its artisanal character, I present Golden Ears’ Neufchatel in a charming jam-jar.

Condiments and crackers made in B.C.

No board is complete without sweet, savoury, spicy, and salty components. I love Yellow Deer Mustard ‘Sugar & Spice Make Everything Nice’ Berbere made in Qualicum Beach for an explosion of flavour that pairs beautifully with salami. For a fiery hit, I include Revelstoke’s Stoke the Fire Habanero Honey that packs a punch and stands up nicely to the Brie. For a slightly sweet but savoury spread, I prefer Vancouver’s East Van Jam Fig Vicious spread with balsamic and sea salt, which perfectly balances the Grana Nana. And for a tangy crunch, also made in Vancouver, Mandi’s Mickles Sweet B&B and Tangy Fiddlers are my go-to pickles. I bring it all together with Squamish’s Eve’s Crackers Chili Pepper Pumpkin Seed—the perfect vehicle for every bite.

B.C. wine pairings

Speaking of “bringing it all together”, no holiday cheeseboard is complete without an accompanying holiday sip*. North Penticton’s Poplar Grove Pinot Noir complements these flavours perfectly, helping you savour every bite that much more. And 40 Knots White Seas from Comox is refreshing and balanced, the perfect white wine for holiday gatherings.
