There’s nothing like a bowl of ripe, sweet B.C. cherries in the summer. Grown right here in our own backyard, B.C. cherries are loved across the country—and 2025 is shaping up to be one of the best seasons yet.

Canadian Cherry Month: July 15 – August 15

Peak cherry season runs from mid-July to mid-August, and this year, it’s one to celebrate. B.C. cherry growers work hard all year to bring Canadians top-quality fruit.

Canadian Cherry Month was established by the BC Cherry Association to acknowledge hardworking cherry farmers and producers, and to raise awareness about the significant role that cherries and cherry growers play in Canadian agriculture and the economy.

Support local, buy Canadian, ask for B.C. cherries at your local grocery store now through August. For more details visit: bccherry.com/canadian-cherry-month.

Why B.C. is Canada’s leading cherry-producing region

B.C. produces 95% of Canada’s cherries. The province’s warm days, cool nights, clean air, and fresh water help grow fruit that’s juicy and full of flavour. In the sunny orchards of the Okanagan, Similkameen, and Creston valleys, growers are producing some of the highest-quality cherries in the world. Fun fact: Many of the most popular varieties—like Lapins, Sweetheart, Staccato, and Santina—were developed in Summerland, B.C.
